RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS

This Environmental Monitoring and Audit
(EM&A) report presents the EM&A works undertaken during the month from

According to the environmental audits undertaken
during the reporting period, the following recommendations have been made:
10.2.2
Construction Dust
i.
better watering coverage should be provided at
haul road and exposed areas to ensure the soil surface is in moist conditions;
ii.
water or dust suppression chemical should be sprayed
continuously on the surface where any pneumatic or power – driven drilling,
cutting, polishing or other dust emissive mechanical breaking operations was
undertaking; and
iii.
open stockpiles of
dusty material and demolished debris should be covered properly by tarpaulin or
spray with water to keep surface moist.
10.2.3
Construction Noise
i.
numbers / types of plant operating in the
restricted hour should follow the condition of Construction Noise Permits;
ii.
regular maintenance of machineries; and
iii.
noisy equipment should
be located away from nearby NSRs.
10.2.4
Water Quality
i.
all construction wastewater and surface run-off
should be diverted to appropriate water treatment facilities prior to
discharge;
ii.
de-silting facilities (sedimentation
tanks/chemical treatment plants) should have adequate capacity for settling
surface run-off;
iii.
wheel washing facilities should be installed at
all vehicular exits and used by all vehicles before leaving the construction
site;
iv.
surface run-off from the vehicular and plant
servicing area should be diverted to the perimeter channels with petrol
interceptor prior to discharge to storm drainage system;
v.
site hoarding / concrete barriers should be
tightly sealed at the bottom to prevent seepage of surface run-off from the
site;
vi.
accumulation of water in drip trays and at
chemical/fuel storage area should be avoided; and
vii.
complete temporary
drainage systems on site in accordance with the approved Comprehensive Drainage
Proposal.
10.2.5
Waste Management
i.
oil / petrol contaminated soil should be
collected and disposed of as chemical waste;
ii.
all types of waste should be collected by
licensed waste collectors; and
iii.
good housekeeping
should be implemented throughout the whole construction period.
10.2.6
Anti-mosquito breeding
i.
pondings and uneven
ground should be filled up and leveled;
ii.
construction plant and other items which may
retain water should be covered or treated in appropriate manner; and
iii.
all sedimentation
tanks, sump/soakaway pits and other receptacles which
may retain water should be sprayed with anti-mosquito repellent regularly.
