2                    PROJECT INFORMATION

2.1              Background

2.1.1        The Design and Construction Consultancy Assignment “Agreement No. CE72/98 Route 8 between Tsing Yi and Cheung Sha Wan” was awarded to Ove Arup and Partners Hong Kong Ltd (Arup).

2.1.2        The construction of the Phase 1 Contract was awarded to China Harbour Engineering Company (Group) (CHEC) on 10th April 2002.  The construction works was commenced on 29th July 2002 and is scheduled to be complete by mid 2007.

2.2              Site Description

2.2.1        Phase 1 works area is located in urban area.  The sensitive receivers are mainly residential buildings at Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Hoi Lai Estate (Site 10) and the dwellings at Stonecutters Military Base.  The site location plan and the monitoring locations are presented in Appendix A and F respectively.

2.3              Project Organisation

2.3.1        The Phase 1 Contract organization chart and contact details are shown in Appendix B.

2.4              Project Work Programme

2.4.1        The Phase 1 Contract’s Three Months Rolling Programme is presented in Appendix C.  The major site activities undertaken during normal hours and restricted hours in the reporting period are summarized in Table 2.1 and Table 2.2 respectively.
